Before erecting directional developer signs on the public highway or private street, it is the sign company's responsibility to obtain a DDS (directional developer signs) licence. This does not apply to roads that are not maintained by WSCC, in other words A27 which is Highways Englands responsibility so contact must be made and approval gained from the relevant authority before erecting any signage. Any signs that are proposed to be erected on street furniture such as lamp columns you must obtain permission from SSE before any signage is attached to their assets and all signs must comply with the traffic signs regulation and general directions 2016. Unless there are exceptional circumstances WSCC will only allow a maximum of 10 signs per development. We require a minimum of 5 working days' advance notice from the date of application to the date the signs will be erected. The licence duration is up to 1 calendar year, you are able to apply for longer periods if required, any extension period is also up to 1 calendar year.
